Let's Reuse Together!

  • When we head back to school, let’s reuse last year’s clothes (if they still fit!), buy used textbooks and use the same backpack several years in a row!

  • If last year’s clothes no longer fit, buy used clothes. The clothing resale industry is flourishing and many great quality bargains are available.

  • And, once you’re done with the clothes and can’t even sell them anymore, use them for rags around the house. They make great cleaning helpers.

  • Preparing to write a lot this new school year? Use biodegradable pencils or refillable pens, and make sure they are made of sustainable materials, such as bamboo.

  • Also, reuse your glass. Glass is infinitely recyclable, but it’s also infinitely reusable. Mason jars can be used for canning, as drinking glasses, vases, piggy-banks, whatever you want!

Did you know?

  • More than 2 billion books are published every year, and only 33% of the paper used comes from recycled paper.

  • The second-hand clothing market will reach $51B in a few years, thanks to the new, eco-conscious consumers who want to resell and reuse, not buy to keep.

  • The average lifetime of a piece of clothing is 3 years, and nearly all clothing is recyclable.

  • Bamboo is one of the most sustainable materials. It is categorized as grass, and can grow up to 1m per day.

  • Glass is fully recyclable and can be recycled infinitely, without any loss of quality of purity.
