The 3 Magical Rs

  • The 3 Rs for kids can stand for Reading, wRiting and aRithmetic, but also for Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! Kids learn quickly, and it’s our role to teach them.

  • Reduce – At school and at home, let’s reduce our paper consumption by using scrap paper or printing on both sides. Let’s reduce our water consumption by turning the water off, while brushing our teeth, and let’s reduce our energy consumption by tuning the lights off, when we leave the room.

  • Reuse – In the new school year, let’s reuse last year’s backpacks, buy used books, and maybe even reuse last year’s clothes (if they still fit, of course!). For packing food, let’s commit to reusable containers or, better yet, to beeswax food wrap that can do on everything.

  • Recycle – To recycle, let’s focus on fun and learning. Teach kids, big and small, how to recycle their paper, cereal boxes, milk cartons and, of course, any plastic bottle they may use.

  • Join us in playing with the 3 Rs of sustainable living. One small step, can make a big difference!
